By Iceland Review

Interpol issued yesterday a warrant for the arrest of a 29-year-old Icelandic man who is suspected of being party to extensive smuggling of cocaine to Iceland. He is being searched for abroad while his alleged accomplices have been arrested in Iceland.

A couple in their sixties was stopped at customs at Keflavík International Airport when they arrived to the country from Denmark in late May. An extensive amount of cocaine was hidden in their suitcase, Morgunblaðið reports.

According to RÚV, the man, who is Danish, and the woman, who is Icelandic, were both released upon questioning.

Two other Icelanders, a woman in her twenties and a man in his thirties, were later arrested in connection with this case and have been in custody since. A considerable amount of cocaine has been confiscated during raids.
