International Children’s Games in Iceland

The International Children’s Games opened in Laugardalur, a sports venue in central Reykjavík, at 3 pm yesterday. The games are attended by about 3,000 children and teenagers from 36 countries.

The participants paraded together to Laugardalsvöllur football field where the opening ceremony took place. Bangkok’s representatives handed the flag of the games over to Reykjavík’s representatives. The games were held in Bangkok, Thailand, last year, Morgunbladid reports.

Mayor of Reykjavík Vilhjálmur Th. Vilhjálmsson addressed the assembly and afterwards a fire was lighted to burn throughout the games.
