Minister of Internal Affairs Ögmundur Jónasson met the 25 individuals who were elected to the Constitutional Assembly in the national election in November, which was deemed invalid by the Supreme Court last week, yesterday.
Jónasson listened to the viewpoints of the elects and intends to report them to the government and Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurdardóttir before she meets with the chairpersons of other parties this week, ruv.is reports.
The elects agree that the government must soon decide on how to progress in regard to the Constitutional Assembly, which was supposed to review the Constitution of Iceland and convene for the first time in two weeks, and whether new elections will be held or whether a Constitutional Assembly committee will be appointed.
