Interior Minister’s Home Attacked

Ögmundur Jónasson, the Minister of the Interior and member of Althingi for the Left Green was sitting in his living room at three o’clock on Saturday night when someone threw rocks at his house and broke two windows. Nobody is reported hurt, but a large team of policemen did not find the one (or ones) who threw the rocks.

The minister said that he had been fighting criminal groups, but nobody knows if this attack is related to specific actions by the police or ministry. On Friday morning an asylum seeker tried to put himself on fire, reportedly after a long wait for some decision on his case. He is now being evaluated psychologically. It is not known whether there is any connection connection between his actions and the attack on the minister.
