The video launched in relation to the “Inspired by Iceland” campaign has become off-limits for children younger than 18 on the video website YouTube. When the video is opened, an announcement pops up saying the video’s content isn’t suitable for children.

Einar Karl Haraldsson, chairman of the Inspired by Iceland managing board, didn’t know about this until he was contacted by visir.is.
“I suppose it’s because of the nudity scene,” Haraldsson says of the scene where a naked couple are hugging and kissing in a natural hot spring in the Icelandic wilderness.
The scene has in fact been cut out of one of the versions available on the video website Vimeo, although the video with the nudity scene has proven significantly more popular—1.2 million viewers have seen the original video while 20,000 people have watched the censored version.
“We decided to have two versions as the nudity scene isn’t acceptable in some countries and among certain groups,” Haraldsson said. He doesn’t believe the age limit on YouTube will have a negative impact on the campaign.
