Into the Glacier, the ice cave in Langjökull glacier, was awarded the Innovation Prize of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association Wednesday, according to mbl.is.
Minister of Industry and Commerce Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir presented the prize.
The project is described as very ambitious, unique on a world-wide basis, and a great boost to tourism in West Iceland and in the country as a whole.
The tunnel was the site of a side event of the Secret Solstice Music Festival earlier this year.
