Innovation in a Glacier

Into the Glacier, the ice cave in Langjökull glacier, was awarded the Innovation Prize of the Icelandic Travel Industry Association Wednesday, according to

Minister of Industry and Commerce Ragn­heiður Elín Árna­dótt­ir presented the prize.

The project is described as very ambitious, unique on a world-wide basis, and a great boost to tourism in West Iceland and in the country as a whole.

The tunnel was the site of a side event of the Secret Solstice Music Festival earlier this year.
