Injunction issued against publishing personal emails in the Baugur case

Representatives of the district commissioner of Reykjavík issued an injunction on Friday banning Frettabladid from publishing emails or personal documents from Jónína Benediktsdóttir, former girlfriend of Baugur CEO’s father Jóhannes Jónsson. The injunction, requested by Jónína, is preliminary and needs to be enforced by the Reykjavík District Court within a week.

For over a week Fréttabladid has published personal emails from Jónína and others involved in the Baugur case.

The Journalists Association in Iceland protested the injunction with the following words, “the district commissioner does not belong in editorial offices of the Icelandic media”.
