Inflight Proposal Creates a WOW Moment

The passengers of a WOW flight from Paris to Keflavík International Airport were showered with romance on Valentine’s Day.

When Helga Braga Jónsdóttir, flight attendant, was asked by to describe the incident, she said,

“A beautiful man comes to me and asks if anyone speaks French. I say, ‘Yes,’ and the man trembles from emotion and says, ‘I’m going to propose to my girlfriend onboard. Could I maybe use the public address system?’” The French couple was going to Iceland on vacation.

Helga agreed, but asked for five minutes to get out Champagne and chocolate for the passengers. “We wanted to make this a beautiful moment.”

She then took him up front and taught him to use the public address system.

The man began by confessing his love to his girlfriend, but after that, his words were hard to understand because of his state of emotion. “Then he began crying and she moved into the aisle,” Helga described. “Then he went down on his knees as they do in American movies and asked her to marry him. She started crying and all the passengers applauded.”

The pilot, who has been married 16 years, gave the young man one piece of advice: to always respond to the woman’s requests with “Oui, mon amour” (“Yes, my love”).
