Infant mortality rate lowest in Iceland

According to a just released report from UNICEF, Iceland along with Singapore has the world’s lowest infant mortality rate, reports news station NFS. The infant mortality rate in Iceland has decreased 6.2% per year since 1990.

Atli Dagbjartsson, chief physician at the infant ward said the reason for the low infant mortality rate includes good pre- and postnatal care. treatment and an effective monitoring program for newborns.

In 2202, the infant mortality rate was 3.31 deaths per 1,000 live births. NFS did not report the latest figures.
