Independence Party leading in polls for Reykjavík City Council

According to the results of a recent Gallup poll support for the Independence Party in the Reykjavík City Council measured in at 56.1% which would give them nine councilors.

The Progressive Party received 2.7% support, not enough to elect a councilor. Support for the the Left Green Party measured in at 11.4% which would mean two councilors.

27.8% said they would vote for the Alliance Party giving them four councilors.The Liberal Party received 2% support not enough to elect a councilor.

Over 21% of respondents were undecided, 10% refused to respond and 5% will turn in empty ballots or not vote.

Results are based a survey with 1270 adults living in Reykjavík. The response rate was 61%.

The elections will be held next spring.
