Valhöll, the headquarters of the Independence Party (of which Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde is leader) in Reykjavík was spray-painted red on Wednesday night. Security in Valhöll has been increased in response.
“It is sad that people vent their anger is such a way in times when it is important to stand united and work on constructive solutions,” Andri Óttarsson, managing director of the Independence Party, told Fréttabladid.
Óttarsson said Valhöll’s staff had been shocked and saddened when they came to work yesterday morning to find the building splotched with red paint. Police are investigating the incident but don’t yet have any suspects.
