Independence Party Chair Wants in on Icesave

Bjarni Benediktsson, chairman of the largest opposition party, the Independence Party, has requested a meeting with the leaders of the ruling parties, the Social Democrats and the Left-Greens, where their plans on the conclusion of the Icesave debate would be presented.

The meeting should be held before the government signs anything in that regard and their plans should possibly also be presented to other opposition party leaders, Benediktsson stated, Fréttabladid reports.

MPs of the Movement, previously the Civic Movement, also requested yesterday that no agreements or documents in relation to Icesave be signed without the matter being discussed in parliament first and agreements being presented to the parliamentary committees concerned.
