Increase of some 6 percent in accommodation nights in August

Accommodation nights in August increased by 5.7 percent over the same time last year, from 154,100 to 162,900.

The increase was greatest in North Iceland, where it was 23 percent higher than the previous year. Icelandic guests accounted for 23 percent of the increase, and foreign visitors 4 percent.

Accommodation nights increased by 10 percent in the first eight months of the year, as compared to the same period last year. Morgunbladid online reports.
