Illustrations by Brian Pilkington on Display

Hafnarfjördur Art Gallery Hafnarborg Christmas exhibition is on display with illustrations by Brian Pilkington from the children’s book The Last Troll (2007) by Steinar Berg. The illustrations will be on display throughout December.

Brian Pilkington was born in England in 1950 and is famous for his illustrations of children’s books, both in Iceland and internationally. His books include Noah’s Ark (1988), Old Grandpa and the Santa Claus (1990), Love Story from the Mountains (1981) and Flowers on the Roof (1985).

Pilkington is especially known for his drawings of Icelandic supernatural beings and his book Encyclopedia of Icelandic Trolls (1999) received an award from the Icelandic Tourist Board. In 2003, Pilkington was granted the Icelandic Illustration Prize for Moonstones in the Pocket.

Hafnarborg is open daily and admission is free courtesy of Glitnir Bank. Also on display is the photo exhibition “Portrait Now!”
