Extremely icy conditions in the Reykjavík capital area have been the cause of many slips and falls, RÚV reports. According to information from the fire department, paramedics have had to transport a large number of people who have sustained injuries due to falls, particularly on sidewalks and in parking lots.
A storm is expected in Southwest and South Iceland this afternoon, with wind gusts of up to 35 metres per second between Reykjavík and Keflavík Airport. Also 35-40 metres per second gusts are expected between Reykjavík and Borgarnes, West Iceland and between Seljalandsfoss and Vík, South Iceland.
Ring Road One is currently closed east of Selfoss due to a traffic accident.
