Icicles put pedestrians in danger

Police fenced off sidewalks in downtown Reykjavík yesterday due to danger of large icicles hanging from roofs falling on passers-by.

Reykjavík police said house owners have to be reminded every year to remove icicles from their roofs before temperatures begin rising after a period of cold weather. Fréttabladid reports.

Police said if a large icicle falls on a pedestrian, it could have deadly consequences for which the house owner would be held responsible.
