Icelandic Wooden Spoon Trick Brothers on Jay Leno

A YouTube video made by three brothers from Kópasker in northeast Iceland was aired on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday evening. In the video, which was originally made for a local Thorrablót mid-winter feast, one of the brothers is tricked with a wooden spoon.

“This is brilliant,” commented Óli Jón Gunnarsson, the brother who was tricked, to dv.is. When asked whether he is comfortable with millions of people laughing at him as the victim of the trick—6.6 million American viewers watch The Tonight Show on average and since the video was posted on YouTube in April it has been watched more than 380,000 times—Gunnarsson said that doesn’t bother him much.

“Of course I’m not content with my brothers but […] it is incredibly funny and I just see the humorous side of it, it’s impossible not to,” he reasoned. “However, this calls for me tricking my brothers somehow and to get revenge.”

Meanwhile, Gunnarsson is satisfied with having become world-famous overnight. “Now I’m just waiting for a phone call from Jay Leno himself inviting me to be on the show.”
