Icelandic Women Approaching EURO 2017

Icelandic women are known for reaching their goals. When they join forces, they can score many. The Icelandic women’s national football team is close to reaching its goal of qualifying for the EURO 2017, to be held in the Netherlands next summer.

They have won six out of six qualifying matches, scored 29 goals and conceded 0. They top the EURO 2017 Qualifying Group 1, with equally as many points as Scotland, which has played one more game than Iceland.

The team beat FYR Macedonia 8-0 on June 7, but had previously beaten Scotland 4-0 in Falkirk.

They will get a chance to secure qualification for the championship when they play against Slovenia on September 16, followed by a game against Scotland.

The countries which have already qualified for the EURO 2017 are the Netherlands, who play host, Germany (holders), England, France, Norway, Spain and Switzerland.
