Icelandic Woman Murdered in the Dominican Republic

Police in the Dominican Republic are investigating the murder of an Icelandic woman who was the managing director of Hotel Extreme in the village of Caparete. Three employees of the hotel have been arrested.

The woman’s associate found her body in the bathroom of her hotel room on Monday. She had been stabbed in her shoulder, hand and chest and had also suffered injuries to her head. Police believe the murder was committed on Sunday, Fréttabladid reports.

The woman’s associate decided to check on her since she had not seen her since Saturday. Her room was locked but the associate had an extra key.

According to news website El Nacional this is the second serious crime committed within a week in the region where the victim is a hotel manager. Last week a hotel manager was kidnapped.

The Icelandic woman was 29, unmarried and had no children. She had been traveling the world since April this year, to Australia, Dubai and finally to the Dominican Republic.
