The video installation “The End” by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson has been chosen for screening at the Sundance Film Festival in January next year. The artwork has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale for the past six months.

Börkur Árnason, owner of gallery i8, told Fréttabladid that Kjartansson has received considerable attention at the Venice Biennale for his video installation and that because of it he has risen to fame in the international art scene.
At Sundance, “The End” will be shown in a category called “New Frontier” and Kjartansson is among 13 artists whose works were chosen for that category. Árnason explained that what characterizes the category is that visual art and film merge into one.
