“Around 2,800 brands participate in the fair and all the main players of this business are represented there. I believe that some 70 brands competed for the Best New Product Award this year,” managing director of Scintilla Arna Sigrún Haraldsdóttir told Fréttablaðið.
Scintilla’s towels can be washed as many as 30 times before the scent evaporates. “It is not a new technology but it has hardly been used in products like this. We have three scents, all of which were inspired by the nature of the West Fjords,” Arna revealed.
The different scents are called Westwind and Silent Sands; Wild Thyme and Blueberries; and Rain and Deep Blue Water. Arna said she is certain that the product’s success at New York Now will further raise the company’s profile.
Scintilla, designing home textile products with emphasis on graphics, patterns and textures, was founded by textile designer Linda Björg Árnadóttir, who teaches at the fashion design department of the Icelandic Academy of the Arts.
