Icelandic Tourism Companies Receive Global Award

Icelandic event organizer Practical and Hilton Hotel Nordica in Reykjavík received the recognized international CRYSTAL tourism award on Saturday along with an American event organizer for a 200-person team-building trip for a US pharmaceutical company to Iceland.

The theme of the four-day trip was “country of opposites” and included day tours, a celebratory dinner and other events, Morgunbladid eports.

“One day people could choose a tour according to their own interest, for example, river rafting, horseback riding, Reykjavík sightseeing and the Golden Circle. Another day the entire group was taken on a glacial tour with jeeps and small snowmobiles, so there was a lot to organize,” described managing director of Practical Marín Magnúsdóttir.

Practical organized the Iceland part of the journey and the guests stayed at Hilton Nordica where the celebratory dinner took place.

Magnúsdóttir said the CRYSTAL award is a great stamp of quality for the Icelandic tourist industry. The award is granted by the SITE organization, in which around 2,000 companies involved in tourism and event organization are members.

“Already on Saturday we noticed immense interest in what we are doing. We have definitely been placed on the map,” Magnúsdóttir said. “The travel agencies in the organization work for the largest companies in the world so this is of great importance for our business.”
