Last Friday, a new web site enabling foreigners to study Icelandic long distance was formally opened at the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages, ruv.is reports.

The web site, Icelandic Online is open to all. Iceland’s former president Vigdís Finnbogadóttir opened the page formally at the Nordic House. The web site is intended for adults and includes special courses for immigrants. The site is interactive and teaching is conducted in Icelandic.
Sixteen thousand worldwide users are already registered. Visits to the site are currently at six hundred per day.
