Fifteen members of the Icelandic peace corps will work in northern Afghanistan this August. They will be taking with them three jeeps, which have been transformed in Iceland to meet the difficult road conditions in the area.
According to Fréttabladid, the troops will be armed, and will undergo training in Norway in May and June.
The troops will be assisting the inhabitants of the remote mountain areas who endure primitive living conditions, and lack of water and food.
