An Icelandic stamp was selected for the Best EUROPA Stamp Design 2005 at the 19th Plenary Assembly of PostEurop, the Association of European Public Postal Operators.
The theme of the EUROPA Stamp Competition was gastronomy. Fifty-two designs entered in the competition. The Icelandic stamp, submitted by Iceland Post, drew the most votes among delegates. In a released statement PostEuope hailed the Icelandic stamp, “What immediately catches the eye of the selected stamp is its plate-like shaped form. Combined with the geometrical pattern of the illustrations and he multiple positions of the text, it provides a very dynamic and modern touch.”
The Icelandic stamp was designed by Hany Hadaya at H2 Design (H2 hönnun), It was issued the May 26 and has a value of ISK 70.
The 19th Plenary Assembly of PostEurop took place in Vilamoura, Portugal from 28 to 30 of September.
PostEurop was set up in 1993 by 26 Public Postal Operators whose main objective was to strengthen their cooperation. Today, PostEurop has 43 Members.
