Icelandic Special Forces train with USS WASP

By Iceland Review

A US military helicopter transported Icelandic police and a bomb disposal squad to Hvalfjördur, West Iceland, yesterday, where they practiced dismantling bombs.

According to assistant chief constable, Gudmundur Ómar Thráinsson, the exercise went well despite windy weather conditions. This is reported in all the main media.

Two bomb disposal experts of the Icelandic Coast Guard accompanied the Special Forces and were in charge of dismantling the bomb.

The experts used a new bomb disposal technology, a special kind of water pistol, to dispose of the bomb in the training area.

The USS WASP, a US navy multipurpose amphibious assault ship, which has been anchored in Reykjavík harbor since Thursday, left Iceland today.
