Icelandic Songwriter Contributes to Hunger Games

Icelandic singer-songwriter Ólafur Arnalds’ song “Allt varð hljótt” (“Everything was silenced”) is featured in the American blockbuster The Hunger Games, which enjoys popularity around the world.

“It isn’t bad having music in a movie which had the third largest opening in the US,” Ólafur commented to Fréttablaðið.

The producers of The Hunger Games contacted him in the eleventh hour because the person hired to write the score had difficulties with a particular scene and so Ólafur was asked to help out.

Earlier he had applied to write the score for the movie but didn’t get the job.
