Icelandic Skyr a Hit in Denmark

The unique Icelandic dairy product skyr has become a hit in Denmark, steadily growing in popularity since it was first marketed in the country in 2006. Skyr-producers are looking at a five percent increase in sales this year compared to 2008.

In the beginning of December, more skyr products had been sold in Denmark so far in 2009 than in the entire year prior, the website of the Association of Icelandic Dairy Farmers states.

The dairy Thise Mejeri in Denmark produces skyr with license from MS in Iceland. It sells three brands of skyr from organic milk, pure skyr, skyr with strawberries and skyr with pears and bananas.
