The short film Whale Valley (Hvalfjörður) by Icelandic director Guðmundar Arnar Guðmundsson won the Golden Starfish award at the Hamptons International Film Festival in the U.S. last week.
The film has won widespread critical acclaim and continues to win awards at international festivals.
Among the other awards Whale Valley has received in recent weeks are Best Short Film at the Warsaw International Film Festival, which concluded on the weekend, and Best Short Film at the Film Fest Gent in Belgium, as stated in a press release.
Whale Valley took home the award for Best Icelandic Short at the recent Reykjavík Film Festival 2013 and in May, won the Palme d’Or Short Film Special Distinction Ex-aequo award at Cannes.
