Icelandic rockers compete for record deal on internet

Icelandic rock band Ten Steps Away from Hafnarfjördur is currently competing in an extensive band playoff on the internet for a million dollar record deal from Bodog Music, an independent record producer, which promotes unknown musicians.

“I registered the band for fun,” Agnar Fridbertsson, the lead singer and guitarist in Ten Steps Away, told Morgunbladid. “Recently I received a phone call from abroad where we were encouraged to upload more music into our space on the competition’s website, which we did that same day. After a few days we reached second place.”

The playoff takes place on the website bodogbattle.eu, where European bands compete, and on bodogbattle.com, which is for American bands. Web users vote for their favorite band.

The 12 bands that receive the most votes are invited to compete in the semi-finals in Copenhagen and six bands are then offered to compete in the final playoff, Battle of all Battles.

It is not clear when the semi-finals or the final battle will take place.
