Icelandic Rescue Services: Tourists Need More Information

ICE-SAR (Landsbjörg) search and rescue teams received around 2,000 call-outs in the highlands last year, a 60 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Managing director Jón Svanberg told Rás 2 morning radio that it is vital that the ever-growing number of travelers have good and correct information for their trip in Iceland.

Search and rescue teams are for the eighth year in a row stationed in four places in the highlands during summer.

According to Jón, there is a strong need for being stationed in the area.
