The Icelandic Red Cross, in cooperation with the Red Cross in Mozambique and the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA), opened a new healthcare center in Chibucutso, Manica district, in Mozambique on Tuesday.
The center was formally delivered by Ómar Kristmundsson, president of the Icelandic Red Cross, and Marcelino Alexandre, president of the Red Cross in Mozambique, to the country’s health authorities at a special ceremony, ruv.is reports.
The Red Cross’ other healthcare center in Mozambique is located in Hindane, Maputo district, which is very remote, and the roads are only accessible with four-wheel-drive vehicles.
The healthcare center will, among other things, be responsible for postnatal supervision, and cooperate with the Red Cross’ volunteer network in Mozambique.
