Icelandic Red Cross Gives Aid to Bangladesh

The Icelandic Red Cross sent an ISK 3 million (USD 49,000, EUR 33,000) contribution to emergency relief in Bangladesh yesterday after tropical cyclone Sidr hit the country on Thursday.

On Sunday, the International Red Cross called for ISK 213 million (USD 3.5 million, EUR 2.4 million) to assist the about 235,000 people living in the area suffering the most damage over the next ten months, ruv.is reports.

The Icelandic Red Cross therefore asks Icelanders to make donations by calling (+354) 907-2020. With each phone call the caller is charged ISK 1,200 (USD 19, EUR 13).
