Icelandic record label signs major contract with US Company

Record label River of Light Records, owned by Icelandic musician Fridrik Karlsson, signed a contract with US based New Leaf Distribution last week.

As described in a press release issued by music distribution company SENA last week, the contract is a stepping stone for the company, which specializes in feel good music. Its music is distributed to about 20 countries around the world.

New Leaf Distribution is the largest record distribution company in the US that specializes in new age music. It has operated for about 20 years and distributes records to over 12,000 stores across North America.

Karlsson recently released two new records in Iceland; Módir og barn and Álfar og fjöll. According to the press release, the latter is currently the fourth place of highest sold records in Iceland ever.

Fridrik Karlsson is a professional musician who has a degree in classical and jazz/rock guitar. He gained fame with his band Mezzoforte in 1983 with the hit song “Garden Party.”
