By Iceland Review

President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson sent condolences on behalf of the country to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II regarding the terrorist attack which occurred in Manchester last night, reports mbl.is. Guðni made particular mention of the young people affected.

In the message the president stated, among other things, that nothing justifies terrorism, and that no one who supports such an atrocity deserves shelter in a democratic society. Guðni affirmed that the thoughts of Icelanders are with the wounded and those who now mourn their lost loved ones and praised the great response of emergency response workers at the scene and the strong sense of unity that followed in the city.
