The novel was released in Italy in January under the title Hotel Silence. The first print sold out within a week of release, and the third reached stores in March. RÚV reported first.

The novel was published in English in February and has enjoyed good reviews. The Independent chose it as one of the 10 best new novels for 2018, while the Daily Mail commended it for its humour and philosophical depth.
