Icelandic National Team Member Seriously Injured

ski-blafjoll-small_psFanney Torbjörg Guðmundsdóttir, a member of the Icelandic National skiing team, was seriously injured on Christmas Eve while practicing in Geilo, Norway. She is now waiting surgery in Ulleval Hospital in Oslo.

Fanney was skiing when she fell at great speed and was thrown off the slope. She hit a tree, resulting in multiple broken bones, according to her father on She was unconscious and not breathing when she was found but by reacting quickly the first ones on the scene managed to save her life. Due to a spinal injury, she was unable to move from the neck down.

She was flown to the Ulleval Hospital in Oslo where she will undergo a complex operation on her neck and the top of her spine tomorrow.
