Icelandic Musicians Perform in Reykjavík and New York

Tonight, some of Iceland’s more “colorful” bands, OBJA RASTA, Swords of Chaos, Me, The Slumbering Napoleon, Fist Fokkers and Just Another Snake Cult, will play at Faktorý on Smidjustígur 6 in Reykjavík.

The DJ Benson is Fantastic will entertain the crowd in between acts, a press release states. The concert series begins at 8:30 pm and tickets cost ISK 1,000 (USD 8.7, EUR 6.0). They are sold at the entrance.

Tomorrow, July 7, the fifth concert in the concert series Rafmagnslaust (“Unplugged”) will take place at Nordurpóllinn, a concert venue on Nordurslód in Seltjarnarnes. Tomorrow, the bands Of Monsters and Men and Vigri will perform. The concert starts at 9 pm, doors open at 8:30 pm. Tickets cost ISK 1,500 (USD 13, EUR 9).

Meanwhile, the concert series “Out of Scandinavia: New Indie Music from the Nordics” is taking place at Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America in New York on the first Thursday of every month.

Tomorrow, bass guitarist-composer Skúli Sverrisson from Iceland will play along with Davíd Thór Jónsson, “one of the most inventive musicians, pianists, and performers to come out of the Icelandic music scene,” as described in a press release.

The doors open at 7 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets cost USD 10 (ISK 1,200, EUR 7.0), USD 8 for ASF members. There will be no concert in August or September but the concert series will resume in October 2011.
