Malta is not an independent country and Europe is in the grip of famine, according to MP for the Progressive Party Vigdís Hauksdóttir. Vigdís made the statements during a debate on Stöð 2 yesterday. The Times of Malta reported on the comments on their website earlier today.
UNICEF in Iceland’s Sigríður Víðis Jónsdóttir criticized Vigdís for her flippant use of the word famine.
Vigdís is the chair of Heimsýn, the anti-EU movement in Iceland.
