Icelandic Movies Win Prizes in Hungary

Two Icelandic movies, Jar City and Heima, received awards at recent the Titanic Film Festival in Budapest. The jury named Jar City (2006) by Baltasar Kormákur best movie.

The director was presented with the festival’s main prize, the “Breaking Waves Award” and EUR 10,000 (USD 16,000), reports.

The attendants of the festival also named music documentary Heima (2007) by Icelandic band Sigur Rós the best film of the festival.

During the festival, almost 70 films from 30 different countries were screened and eight were selected to compete for awards. The festival ended on Sunday.
