Icelandic Mice Honoured

The Icelandic house mouse and field mouse now grace new stamps brought out by the Icelandic Post Office yesterday. This decision was celebrated by the “Friends of ice” society who believe the mouse is finally being shown the honour it deserves.

“It was about time to honour this first mammal to inhabit Iceland,” says president of the association, Magnús Skarphédinsson. More field mice than house mice live in Iceland. They are of similar stature, except the latter is more grey than brown.
