Icelandic heavy metal band Skálmöld, founded in August 2009, has signed a contract with Napalm Records to release their debut album Baldur worldwide.

Skálmöld’s music is described as “a powerful, melodic and epic Viking Metal, mixed with the cold Icelandic darkness along with various folk influences,” on icelandicmusic.is. When writing the lyrics, the band follows the strict rules of traditional Icelandic poetry.
Baldur is a concept album telling the epic and dramatic tale of the Icelandic Viking Baldur. The album’s worldwide release is scheduled for July 27.
The band will go on tour around Europe in the fall for a month after playing at the Eistnaflug heavy metal festival in Neskaupstadur, east Iceland, on July 7, the G-Festival in the Faroe Islands July 14-16t and the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany on August 4.
