Icelandic lawyer labeled “world-shaker”

British weekly The Lawyer included Gudmundur Oddsson of Icelandic law firm Logos in their list of “world-shakers,” the 40 most influential lawyers outside the UK.

According to the magazine, the “world-shakers” will help shape the world of law in 2007. The list was published in The Lawyer on January 8 as a follow-up of the magazine’s listing of the 100 “hottest” lawyers in the UK.

Oddsson’s achievements were described thus: “Gudmundur Oddsson turned up the heat last spring by singlehandedly [sic] launching a London office for Logos, Iceland’s largest law firm, to capitalize on the increasing investment by Icelandic companies in the UK.”

“Oddsson’s success has meant that Logos has already sent over a second lawyer and is looking to employ London-qualified solicitors,” the magazine concluded.

Logos is the first Icelandic law firm to open an office abroad. The goal of the London office is to offer comprehensive service in the field of company consultancy.

In a press release issued by Logos this week it says that the company’s London office has been more successful than they had dared hope for. It has undertaken various projects in Asia and America, though their main focus has been on Britain.
