Icelandic króna rises

The exchange rate of the Icelandic króna has increased over 2% last week after three international financial institutions issued bonds amounting to ISK 18 billion on the Icelandic króna. The financial institutions include a Norwegian export fund, a bank from Holland and the Austrian treasury.

The bonds have sold well reports the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV.

The exchange rate index for the króna is now the lowest it has been since 1993 when interbank trading of foreign exchange started. The exchange rate for the US dollar is 61 króna and 112 króna for the British pound.
