A new natural spa is set to open this summer at Hraunsnef Country Hotel in Norðurárdalur, West Iceland.
Surrounded by the valley’s stunning scenery, the natural baths are expected to offer guests and visitors a fresh place to relax.
Owners Jóhann Harðarson and Brynja Brynjarsdóttir are overseeing the project, set to be complete by early August. Together, the couple have operated Hraunsnef Country Hotel since 2005, recently celebrating its 20th anniversary.
“We’ve survived one crash and one Covid,” said Jóhann. “But even so, last year was the hardest. It was a very rainy summer and we had too many employees for too few guests, but instead of giving up, we decided to just give in and start construction.”
All new facilities
Hraunsnef Country Hotel offers a cosy countryside retreat with 18 well-appointed rooms and three charming cottages.
Jóhann told local reporters that the new luxury additions have long been part of their vision.
The baths are being built adjacent to the hotel’s restaurant and include: a hot pool, cold tub, wading area, sauna, and new changing and reception facilities.
