Jóhann Sigfússoon is nominated in the category of Director of Cinematography and Gunnar Konrádsson in the category of Outstanding Cinematography.
“I have to admit the experience is surreal and I actually didn’t believe the news until I saw it on paper,” Konrádsson told mbl.is.
Konrádsson is a filmmaker who is passionate in his making of documentaries; he produced and filmed Delicious Iceland with Icelandic Chef Volli.
Sigfússon is one of Iceland’s most experienced cameramen and has earned a good repuation for his work around the world.
The producer, Anna Dís Ólafsdóttir was thrilled with the nominations and told mbl.is the nomination was “a great honor for a great team.”
Ólafsdóttir expects the nominations to be a welcome boost for the Icelandic film industry; since the economic crash of 2008 the industry has suffered and she hopes the nomination will increase interest in Icelandic cinema.
