Icelandic Filmmaker Working for IS Terrorists?

Journalist Sarah Birke, The Economist’s Middle-East correspondent, maintains in her article ‘How ISIS Rules,’ published in The New York Review of Books yesterday, that an Icelandic citizen is working as a filmmaker for the terrorist organization in Syria.

“Abu Hamza [a Syrian defector from ISIS’s intelligence services] told me that an Icelandic filmmaker was among the recruits to the group, hence the professional videos used to attract new recruits and scare Western viewers.”

Visir.is asked Birke whether she was positive that the information was correct and she said she had asked her source many times and that he always responded that the filmmaker was from Iceland and living the IS capital Raqqa in eastern Syria.

Jón Bjartmarz, chief constable of the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, refused to comment on the news to visir.is.
