The family of the Icelandic filmmaker, who, according to a Syrian defector from IS (aka ISIS) has been working for the terrorist organization, as stated in an article in The New York Review of Books by Sarah Birke, has come forward to mbl.is, saying he is not involved with IS.
However, IS is after his footage and therefore they are pointing at him, trying to find out his name, his family explains.
The man was in Syria a year and a half ago, following a doctor, filming a refugee camp and an armed conflict between IS and the guerrilla group he was with.
The filmmaker was shot while risking his life showing the world how terrorist organizations like IS operate. He has not been in Iraq or Syria since. His family says he has moved on to another country, documenting a different war.
