Icelandic Documentary Aired on BBC4

By Iceland Review

The documentary Last Days of the Arctic about the Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson, aka Rax, and his career was aired on BBC4 this week.

From Rax’s book of the same name.

The BBC program states that Rax is among the world’s best-known photographers and that his photographic series “Faces of the North” is a living documentation of ways of life in the Arctic regions that are about to disappear, Morgunbladid reports.

Rax was among guests at the largest Nordic photography festival, Nordic Lights Festival, which was held in Kristiansand, Norway, May 3-7.

The film aired on BBC4 was a 60-minute version of a full-length film which will premiere shortly. It was produced by Saga Film and directed by Magnús Vidar Sigurdsson.
