Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur has reached an agreement with composer James Newton Howard to compose the score for his latest movie Run for Her Life. Howard is, among other things, famous for his music in The Dark Knight.
“My producers could hardly believe that I had recruited him,” Kormákur told Morgunbladid.
Howard is one of Hollywood’s most respected composers, having also written the score for Alive, King Kong, The Sixth Sense and The Fugitive. He has been nominated for Oscars seven times, but has not yet won.
“I was also very impressed by the music he wrote for Michael Clayton so I began discussing this with him. Then he decided to read the script,” Kormákur said. “He liked the script and decided to do this.”
Kormákur has other reasons to be celebrate these days: yesterday London’s Times Online named his movie Jar City (2006) one of the ten best crime movies of all time. “They’re kidding, right?” the director exclaimed, adding, “It is absolutely fantastic news!”
